On Saturday, December 31st, 1994, thirty six people gathered at 7:00am in the morning at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship in Port Charlotte, Florida with millions of people around the world offering their prayers and joining together in meditation for world peace.
As part of our service, we asked the participants to write a message of peace that they would like to send to the world. Here are those messages:
World, peace please. Let's wake up and see the madness that we have dreamt, the futility of our egos. Let's welcome our true nature and wake up from this dream.
May we have more tolerance of each other. My understanding is there are several dozen wars going on between nations. Families are split due to hostilities.
Remembering always that we are One is a simple key to Peace... knowing that God's light shines on each of us. And having courage to see it. know it.
KICK THE BOMB HABIT!
The only purpose for being on this earth is love. There's no other lesson we're put here to learn. If you can do the impossible and love even those who are hardest to love, the impossible will happen - peace on earth.
Swords and plowshares were for a simpler world. For a nuclear world peace is not just an idle dream but a paramount requirement.
To live in peace with all we meet as we now do with those we know and love.
How do you still the voices of greed and intolerance?
How do you turn the political process from selfishness to love?
For an end to all wars and the spread of peace and harmony among all people around the world.
Man has always loved to fight and conquer. he had it straight from his primitive ancestors. It is one of his finest gifts. The deplorable thing is that he has advanced unevenly and although he has turned to laudable purposes many of the assets handed down to him, he has not yet reached the point where he regards this admirable bequest as a spiritual rather than a physical medium, and devote it to conquering himself rather than others... very little is said about the most important factor of all, self control. Until we learn to say no to ourselves we shall never be a great people. (from The White Sail by Basset)
We are One - Let us Remember Who We are So we may come Home to Eternal Peace. I pray that this may be a Quick process.

ASSURE JUSTICE AND PEACE WILL BE POSSIBLE
That all wars end. That people everywhere learn to forgive each other and see each other as perfect creations of God. That my biological family unite in peace and love. Than my children (family) solve their differences.
As each one of us discovers our own truth, the thread of love, peace, and understanding can then create us as one.
As an adopted child of God; I have been called & choose to let the light of PEACE shine to all who read this message and to all whom it touch. Until it radiates in the hearts of all.
The infinite energy that keeps stars in place and the planets revolving and spinning is love and light and positive thought. I believe that positive thought within and around us will assist our world and bring it to peace and health
We should all set aside our own selfish interests, cultural biases and religious prejudices to recognize overpopulation as the leading threat and principal obstacle to world peace.

World peace begins within each individual. My wish is that those who are empowered to make decisions forget their own egos.
It seems so simple - why does fighting have to be the way to solve disagreement - when everyone loses and is hurt by it? Please think of your families and friends and other loved ones and realize that discussion and compromise can achieve the same results as without the irreparable carnage.
Teach the Children Truth as they Remind me of Innocence.

It is my hope through the vehicles of love, caring and an
exploration into our various cultures that peace were begun.
There are many ways to peace. Let us begin by determining to ourselves not be the instrument of death. Perhaps this will give live on earth a chance.

All of our souls and spirits cry out for peace. The only way to a peaceful world is if each and every individual maintains peace in their hearts. Each individual makes up God's world - if all of us pray and keep peace in our hearts we will have Peace on Earth.
May all beings be healed and have the experience of deep
love that goes beyond personal love to love of all that is. This is the path to peace.
May the peace of God be on all mankind, that we may love one another as Christ loves us.
Peace is my choice and I do not choose alone. See this choice yourself within yourself and others will follow. It is not someone else to change, only your own mind and if you do we will be together much stronger.
Listen to the small voice,
The one that your heart follows.
Let your mind hear this message,
Let love guide you in all you do.
May we cherish the gift of love we give and receive this day with all others known and unknown on our dear blue green planet. Some say we live in the end times. I hope they are right. I hope that we are ushering in the end of war and the beginning of a millennium of peace. It is possible because we see it and know it as we see the power of love working in our own heart.
Peace can come and let it begin with me.
