World Peace and Healing Day Messages 1996

World Peace and Healing Day Messages
7:00am December 31st, 1996

We gathered at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship in Port Charlotte Florida along with millions around the world to spend an hour thinking, speaking, praying, meditating, and visualizing the movement of our world toward greater wholeness and peace.

The inspiration for this event comes from two visionaries named John Randolph Price and his wife Jan who originally proposed this global event. They realized in 1983 that the focus of attention throughout the world needed to move from materiality to spirituality by forming a Planetary Commission. Price describes the formation of the Commission this way:

The Commission is not like any other kind of movement. We are not protesting or resisting anything. We're simply consenting to letting God be God - and we are volunteering to co-create with God in the implementation of the Divine Plan - for each one of us, and for all humanity.

To serve as a Light Bearer on the Commission requires no dues. There is no organizational structure. There will be no meetings, however, at Noon Greenwich time on December 31st of each year (beginning in 1986 and) - continuing until the last one comes into the Light - men women and children all over the world will gather in a Global Mind-Link to release Love, Light and Spiritual Energy into the Race mind.

This year Cynthia Stiehl again sang some songs for peace and Sherry Noland-Gosset representing the Groves Foundation reflected on world peace and inner peace and then led a guided meditation with recorded meditational music. After our time for meditation and prayer, each person was invited to share a message of peace with the world. What follows is a listing of those messages with the hope that these peaceful thoughts will bring healing to the world. Enjoy them so you too may find both peace and healing within and become part of the cause of world peace.

Why are simple things so hard to achieve? Help me, Lord to love one another, as you have loved me, and then there will be peace, because if I love, then I can't hurt anyone, or anything.

May the peace which we have all felt in this short hour of prayer and meditation be passed on to all the world leaders and then felt by their people to bring about world peace. Perhaps in future years, December 31st can be a world way of thanksgiving for world peace.

Today, I forgive all who have ever hurt me so that we may live in peace.

I feel peace when I am outside with my horse. When I am grooming him or riding him or feeding him. When he is running it feels as if we are one being. When I ride bareback and he runs I feel as if we will never be separated. When I am with my horse I feel truly peaceful.

Peace--Always there within the storm thunder, lightning, gusts cannot touch that still place within my spirit though in my humanness I forget, Faith. Connection to my divine source. Great Mystery I honor you.

[I find inner peace] Playing with my sister.

Be your own peace, this will then reflect in all you do. World peace is worth working toward. Put forth the effort for peace, with the reverence you have for the most important part of your life.

Peace on earth, and in your heart.

When each man and each woman finds inner peace there will be peace on earth. Love your sister, Anne Hart

Peace is simple, not easy. It is who we are. We just need to remember that idea and each day I need to choose peace as I honor my being and our joint consciousness.

Right now, let us turn our backs on laying blame, and look only forward as to how we can help all live in peace.

Teach us to know that hate is promoted by fear--and should be discarded. Peace is promoted by innocence and faith the deepest bond of love of self given to humanity.

Join Us! Join Us!
You are not alone
Just as a baby is soothed by its mother's hand
So too we are soothed by each other.
We are not alone and peace surrounds us.

Peace, world
Peace, for our children
They look up into our eyes searching for direction.
May we share our strength and peace with them.

[I pray] that all weapons will be buried and that peace will be realized--and that inner peace will reign in the hearts of all.

A search for inner peace takes courage of inner strength which can overcome what is beyond.

[Pray for] peace in families, communities, governments.

The sun has infinite power for growth, healing and light.
We combine growth, healing and light to make inner peace.
Then, we release the power and send it back to the universe, completing the circle, including all within it.

I am you and you are me, united with one another in understanding, love, tolerance and peace.

At the sunset of my life,
intense trauma, death, physical pain, mental pain over came my whole being.
In search of consolation, comfort
I found great Peace through an outstretched hand
That of a new found friend whose name is Joan Divine,
who [to my surprise] is here physically present with me at this Service.
Thank you Joan, God bless you, Peace be with you always.

Inner peace and outer peace are one.
My prayer is for all people to find what they seek, what they desire, what they need,
by looking within to find the beauty which glows in our hearts
and then find that same beauty glowing in the world
and recognize the eternal truth of what is beyond us. Rev. Sam Trumbore
